I feel very sad.

And angry.

What did we expect?

As the US works towards affirming all humans as humans, the ones that previously reigned supreme now violently lash out.

And they were allowed to claim their “rightful place”.

They were allowed to sit in Nancy Pelosi’s chair. They were allowed to sit in the Vice President’s seat.

The most embarrassing thing about today is the dignity with which the white terrorists were treated relative to how everyone else is treated.

The saddest thing about all of this is that I am one of them.

We have made this, we have allowed this.

We are complicit.

Every single one of us.

That is my laundry hanging to dry in the open air.

We are content with white leadership being the norm.

White folks getting what they want is the norm.

I demand what I want. I sense it in my blood and I despise it.

I despise what I am made of.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

Tribalism lives in every flesh.

We fight for us and ours.

Why do we think the US is different than other countries? Than Iraq or Kenya?

We’re not different, we’ve just allowed white supremacy to reign supreme unchecked.

We’ve silenced nonwhite folks so entirely that when an inch of progress is made there is an insurrection.

We are the sickest country on the planet and we don’t even see it.

Now the left calls out the right.

See I told you you were violent angry tyrants.

Who wins from that?

We are complicit.

We’re in this together.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

Lament, lament, lament.

Every good thing we’ve built, we’ve built on the backs of slaves.

Everything we enjoy is tied to oppression.

The world we long for, we destroyed 400 years ago.

We are a plague on this planet.

There is no hope in our country.

Even in our success, we destroy God’s planet.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

But at least now our true colors are shown.

Now our sin is in the light of the whole damn planet.

Not that they didn’t see it before.

We’ve tried to be a beacon of hope, a moral savior.

We were just a ruthless oppressor that gives enough little prizes to silence our friends.

Just like Trump.

The right is right that he’s not different, he just says it out loud.

What do we do tomorrow?

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

Come, then, Lord Jesus, come! Have mercy on my blood stained soul.
